Handle with care
Lift and hold the crown by its stronger base or framework rather than by delicate branches, beads or decorative tips.
Avoid pulling individual wire stems or bending the silhouette unnecessarily.
CARE
Westwired crowns are individually handcrafted from wire, glass, crystal, pearls and other decorative materials. A little care will help protect their shape, finish and sparkle between wears.
The most important rule: handle gently, keep dry and store where the wirework cannot be crushed.
HANDLING & STORAGE
Lift and hold the crown by its stronger base or framework rather than by delicate branches, beads or decorative tips.
Avoid pulling individual wire stems or bending the silhouette unnecessarily.
Keep the crown somewhere dry and protected where the wirework cannot be crushed, snagged or pressed beneath other objects.
Its original packaging is usually the safest place between wears.
When removing or putting on the crown, use both hands and move slowly so pressure is not concentrated on one side of the piece.
Small adjustments should be gentle rather than repeated or forced.
CLEANING & EXPOSURE
Avoid prolonged exposure to water and damp conditions. Moisture can affect wire finishes and may gradually dull some decorative surfaces.
Do not wear the crown in the shower, bath, pool or heavy rain.
Apply hairspray, perfume and styling products before putting the crown on. Allow products to dry fully before the piece comes into contact with hair or skin.
Repeated chemical exposure can affect coatings, lustre and metallic finishes.
Use a soft, dry cloth or a very soft brush to remove dust from the wirework, beads and crystals.
Avoid soaking, polishing compounds, abrasive cloths and chemical jewellery cleaners.
BEFORE & AFTER WEARING
Finish hair, makeup, perfume and styling products before placing the crown so it has less contact with sprays, powders and cosmetics.
Use both hands and settle the piece into position gently rather than forcing the wirework.
Remove the crown before changing clothes, brushing hair or doing anything that could catch the wire, beads or decorative branches.
Lift it away slowly with both hands and support the stronger base as you do.
After wearing, take a moment to check the crown for dust, snagged threads or anything that may have shifted before putting it away.
A quick check helps prevent small issues becoming more difficult to correct later.
IF SOMETHING NEEDS ATTENTION
If part of your crown has bent, loosened or been damaged, contact us before trying to glue, polish or reshape it yourself. A quick photograph is often enough for us to advise on the safest next step.
